About

Background and Experience

Since founding Rachel Turner Editorial Services in 2019, I’ve edited scholarly publications and educational materials in the areas of art history, Asian studies, and related fields. If you’re seeking an editor with subject-matter expertise who will deeply engage with your manuscript, please reach out to discuss how I can help you strengthen and solidify its content. As a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style, I aim to keep your work internally consistent and in alignment with editorial standards. By helping to restructure your manuscript and making suggestions to clarify the language and bolster the arguments, your prose will become more easily understandable. I’ve worked extensively with authors whose primary language is not English to make their work more readable while preserving their unique voice.

My lifelong interests in language, art, and culture developed as an American growing up in China for eleven years. I obtained B.A. degrees in Asian Language and Literature and Art History from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities, and an M.A. in Art History from the University of St. Thomas. I previously worked in-house as an Associate Editor for an academic press, and I have experience with several museums and cultural institutions in curatorial, editorial, and education capacities.

It’s important to find an editor who is the right match for your project, and whether digging deep into a familiar topic or engaging in new terrain, I do my best work on subject matter that resonates with me. If you believe we could be a good fit, please peruse my Services page and reach out so we can discuss your project!
